Happiness In A Box...............

Happy Saturday Girls..

As I promised earlier this week, I'm back to share with you the awesome goodies that my Aunt sent home with me after paying her and my Uncle a visit last weekend in North Dakota.

When my Aunt discovered that I had been doing a lot of crafting, she dug out an old box of miscellaneous sewing and crafting stuff that at one time belonged to my Grandmother and she told me that I could have it.  Her words were that if I wanted anything from the box, I had to take the whole box as she knew she would really have no use for what was inside it and she didn't want to be left with whatever I didn't want from the box.

Well, lets just say that I on the other hand knew I would have lots of use for some of the goodies inside.

After weeding out the junk and putting aside some of the items that I knew a special friend may like, I was left with a stash of beautiful trims and beads for my own use.

Take a look at this yummy goodness..

Isn't it gorgeous ???  Look at all these beautiful trims..

And these pretty beads...

I'm going to have so much fun creating with my new stash of goodies and I think my Grandmother would be very happy knowing that I've come to share her love of crafting and that her leftover goodies will be put to good use.

Crafting While Traveling....

Hi Girls...

Once again I've been a major blog slacker, but I'm back today to share with you some of the cute crafting I did over the weekend.

This past weekend, I traveled out of state to North Dakota with my Mom and one of my sisters to visit my Aunt & Uncle for several days and I decided before leaving that I wanted to bring some of my crafting stuff with me so I packed a small plastic storage case with some things that I could work on over the weekend.

If you recall, several months ago I had altered some plain wooden spools I had purchased at the craft store and I had been wanting to make some more and I knew this would be the perfect thing to do.

Once again, I started with just a package of the plain wooden spools..

And after painting them with craft paint and modgepoding on some pretty scrapbook papers (the strips of which I precut before leaving so I wouldn't have to bring my paper cutter with me), I quickly and easily transformed them into these...

Close up shots of the pink spool...

Blue spool...

Cream colored spool with hints of pink and blue..

And cream colored spool with pale purple....

My Aunt just loved them so needless to say I couldn't leave North Dakota without making one especially for her too.  Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of that one to share with you.

And  Oh my goodness.. Just wait until you see the goodies that my Aunt sent home with me.  When she found out that I've been doing a lot of crafting, she dug some awesome crafting goodies out of her closet to give to me.  I'll be back in a few days to share those with you..

See you soon..

Trying To Get Organized.....

This my friends is why I did not feel worthy of joining in with last months Where Bloggers Create party...

While I myself love to be surrounded by lots of pretty things, even if it does look a little bit  very cluttered, I have to say its a kind embarrassing to let others see what it really looks like most of the time.  Although, I'm guessing most of your craft spaces/studio's probably look just like this quite a bit of the time too.

Beings my crafting space is pretty much just limited to 6 foot folding table in one corner of my spare bedroom (which has no bed), I have been trying to organize it a little better in my attempt to make it feel and look less cluttered, adding some new pieces like the brown computer riser/shelf thingy you see in the first picture above which I was then able to place items on top of, to create a bit more storage space..

And my transformed desk caddy that I altered last month keeps some of my smaller papers, etc more organized as well.

In addition to my crafting table, the only real other storage space I have in the room is a bookcase that I moved from my family room downstairs to the spare room upstairs and I am using it to display and store some of my crafting things, collectibles, magazines, etc....

Well, I wouldn't exactly call it a "studio", but it's a place I love to spend time in when I'm feeling creative.

Maybe next year, I'll have to join in on the Where Bloggers Create bandwagon and share what I hope will be my more organized creative space with you.

Another Handmade Collage...

Do you remember last month when I showed you a collage wall hanging I had done...

Well, I just love how that one turned out, so of course, I had to make another one to keep it company.

This ladies, is my latest crafty creation done once again in pinks and blues.

And of course, using some of my buttons and other embellishments to jazz it up a bit..

And just like the first one, I trimmed the top edge with some coordinating lace trim to finish it off.

Well, the first one is now hanging in my home office and I think I'll need to make a little room for this one in there too.

Hope you all are having a fabulous weekend.

See you soon..

More Shabby Finds.........

Hey there girls..

Woo Hoo, its finally Friday and the work week is done for me, but here I am now still on the computer, but doing something much more fun than work.

I wanted to do another quick post to share with you the rest of the items I found at the antique malls last weekend.

Maybe it's kind of silly to have two nearly identical objects, but when that object is something like this, I don't think a girl should limit herself to one do you??

I just love these vintage flower baskets and I love them even more when they are in just the prefect shade of creamy yellow.

And resting in that basket are two vintage photos I found which were very inexpensive and which I plan on using to make a collage at some point.

While my other yellow flower basket currently resides in my spare bedroom where I do my crafting and is filled with ribbons and other odds and ends, this new one now houses part of my collection of vintage crocheted potholders and will be kept in my kitchen/dining room.  A perfect way to display one of my favorite collections.

These potholders are one more thing I can never seem to have enough of. They are just too cute to pass up when I find them in my favorite pastel colors.

Well, that's all for my finds from last weekend.  I'm thinking maybe I'll have to try and hunt up some more new treasures this weekend.  Sounds like a pretty good idea to me.

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend.

See you soon!!

Pretty Paper Love..........

Who can resist all the pretty scrapbook papers that can be found at your local scrapbook stores???

Not me, that's for sure.  With all the paper crafting I've been doing over the past year, I find myself drawn to the craft and scrapbook stores on what seems to be a weekly basis to hunt down some pretty papers to use in my crafting.

Papers like these, with pink of course (you can click on the pictures to enlarge them and see the patterns more clearly) .....

And these.....

Or how about these .....

So many to choose from and the possibilities are endless...

I love to find papers that coordinate and will work well together in my crafting projects.  And lately, I'm finding myself loving the papers that have that vintagy look.

I can't wait to see what I'll end up creating with with these.

Weekend Find...

Goodness.. Here it is Monday already and the summer days are just flying by.

This past weekend, I visited one old antique store and one that is fairly new and I returned home with a few new treasures which I'll be sharing with you over the next week.

First up is this cute pale yellow vintage powder dish that I just fell in love with at first sight and I was thrilled to see that the seller was having a 50% off sale in her booth so what was originally marked for sale at $6.00 only cost me half that much...

I know I've mentioned several times in the past that I love to collect things that are a pale buttery yellow color, so needless to say, I was quite happy to bring home this little treasure to add to my collection of yellow.

Don't you just love the pretty knob on top??

Did you find any new treasures this weekend?

I'll be back in a few days to show what else I found.  Until then, stay cool as we enter the dog days of summer.
