Spring Pretties.....

Hi Girls..

Happy Friday to you all. I hope you have all been enjoying a good week this week. The week has flown by for me. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday were busy with work as usual, but I managed to schedule in a few vacation days this week as well.

Thursday, which was the first of my vacation days turned out to be pretty much a DUD thanks to Comcast and their lovely 5 hour time frames they schedule your service call for. I had scheduled a service call for them to come out and install an additional cable outlet in my family room and I was schedule for sometime between 8am and 1pm and was stuck at home all day waiting for the cable guy to show up. I had been hoping and praying all week that I'd be one of the lucky ones and they'd show up at 8am, or shortly thereafter so I'd have the rest of the day to do something fun. Well luck was definitely not on my side this week and the cable guy didn't show up until 12:50pm. By the time he finished the job, it was close to 2:30 and the day was pretty much a waste. Not exactly how I would have liked to spend my day, that's for sure.

So to make up for yesterday, today I took a short trip to the lovely town of Stillwater Minnesota for some antiquing and I managed to find a couple of really cute things and at very decent prices as well.

First up is this cute little cream colored china basket with a lovely weave pattern...

And what you see tucked inside the basket in the photo above is a pretty handkerchief with a a pretty floral pattern and pale pink border......

And I found something else which I fell in love with and which I believe is going to turn into another new collection for me and that is this pair of vintage clip-on earrings in the palest shades of pink and cream. As you can see from the tag, they were just $2.00 for the pair...

An idea I have seen over and over again for displaying vintage earrings like these is turning them into magnets and displaying them on vintage metal trays. Such a cute idea and so simple. All you need to do is very carefully break off the clips and glue on a small magnet with a hot glue gun. I hope to someday have a tray filled with pretty earrings like this. It will look great hanging on the wall and will be something that can be added to over time as new earrings are found.

I'm loving my little haul of spring goodies I found today in Stillwater.....

What treasures have you found lately?

Very pretty. I'm trying to stay out of antique stores because I always find linens, hankies, etc.... that I have to have.

Hi Kim,
I was wondering if you went to the monthly sales in Anoka that started on Thursday?! I'm hoping to go in May...
I so enjoy Stillwater and their shops! Of course you can't go wrong with pretty hankies and earrings.

Dear Kim,
So sorry you had a bad day, but I am glad you were able to go out the next day and find such beautiful spring goodies! I love the basket, hankie and earrings. Such vintage sweetness! Thank you for sharing how to convert the earrings to magnets. That is a great idea! I have recently added to my vintage baby planter collection, a sweet lamb and a darling puppy. Have a beautiful weekend! Love, Paula

Wow very cool things. I was at the Goodwill the other day and came up empty :-( There are no good antique shops in our area, so I have to scour the thrift stores.

Sorry for your wasted day!
Now I heart that basket and the earrings! I wear my vintage ones!!!I have 2 of my Aunts vintage jewelery, my Mama's and some of my mother-in-laws as well.
I saw in a old mag, maybe Victoria, anyway the used the old earrings clipped around the bottom a lampshades. These were the small boudoir lamps.
Also make nice clip-ons for napkin rings.
Enjoy your Sunday!!

Hello Miss Kim,

Yes, isn't that always the way. I waited til 5:10 p.m. for them to deliver furniture once. I took the day off! What a waste. Pretty treasures you found. Come by and say hello. It's Pink Saturday at How Sweet the Sound.

Hi Kim,
I can't stand waiting for service people. I tend to pace. No fun for sure! Your finds are very fun. I haven't gone thrifting or antiquing up here because we don't want to have to transport much back. I love the earrings and I can see how they could be used so many different ways. Beautiful goodies!
