I Love Michael's .....

Have I mentioned before just how much I love Michael's craft stores??

I can't seem to go more than one week without having to go in and check out their latest products.

When I stopped in recently with the intent of using my 40% of coupon, I was thrilled to find another rubber stamp to add to my growing collection.  This one isn't a dress form stamp, but it sure is awful pretty..

I can't wait to create something pretty with it.

For all you lovers of everything French and Paris inspired, this is definitely something you'll have to try and find for yourself.  You'd best hurry though as I have a feeling they won't last long.

Now,  I wonder what goodies I'll find at Michael's the next time I stop in...

Only time will tell.

Just Spooling Along......

Hi there girls...

I've been busy in the craft room again creating a new set of altered spools.

Like the ones before, these started out as just plain, unfinished wooden spools I purchased at the craft store.  A little paint, some modgepodge, pretty scrapbook papers and embellishments turned them into these..

I love the colors of the scrapbook papers I used for these.  They were coordinating papers that were part of a 6 inch scrapbook paper pad.

And as always, the pretty coordinating embellishments finished them off quite nicely...

I surprised on of my sisters by gifting her with this new set of altered spools and she loved them.

As always.. Thanks for stopping by to visit and to see what I've been up to.

See you again soon...

Shabby Birds.....

Hi Girls..

I have birds flying in my house.  Well, not really, but sort of.  My birds aren't real and they don't make any noise and they don't make a mess.  Unless you count a bit of glitter falling from them as being a mess.

I recently picked up several packs of these bird shaped chipboard pieces that come in packs of four.  You can find them in the $1.50 bins at Michael's.

And I turned them into these.

The one above is where I first used the loose glitter I told you about in my last post.  It made quite a mess and if you look real close, you can see some spots along the edge where the glitter has already rubbed off.   For the one below, I used the glitter glue and I think it worked much better.  No mess at all..

Pretty sweet I must say and I'm going to be making a bunch more.

One little thing I goofed on with these first two I made is that I actually wanted the head of the bird to be on the left not on the right when you are looking at the side of the bird that has the pretty scrapbook paper on it.  I thought I had it all figured out in my head when I started these thinking I knew which way to put the paper on, but of course, I goofed and did it backwards.  Duh!!  I mean, how hard can it be.  Apparently, for me, very hard.  Not that it makes a huge difference though as it would look great either way.

For the next ones though, I marked the unfinished chipboard pieces with a little handwritten note telling me which side to put the pretty paper on..

Hopefully, that helps..  I'll let you know for sure when I get them done.

See you soon.

More Altered Bingo Cards ....

Hi Girls,

Happy Wednesday..  I'm super excited because today is my Friday as I have Thursday and Friday off for vacation days.  I'm just about ready to head off to work, but before I do, I wanted to stop in to say Hi and to share with you a few more of my crafty creations.

The latest being these two simple altered Bingo cards that I made..

And as you can see, I've recently jumped on the "Glitter" bandwagon and have started using some glitter glues in my projects.  A new obsession maybe ???

It definitely adds a little sparkle to them that's for sure.

I've also just about completed another little item using some regular loose glitter but I'm not quite sure I like using that quite as much.  If you've ever used it yourself, you know that it tends to be a bit messy and leaves glitter everywhere.  I'll just have to keep trying different things with it though to see if I find myself liking it any more or if maybe I should just stick to the glitter glues.

Anyways... thanks for stopping by today.  Come back and visit again soon..

A Pretty New Box.....

I just can't seem to resist pretty storage boxes and this one was no exception..  It definitely had to come home with me.

It's the type they refer to as a book box as it's a box made to look like a book.  I've seen so many pretty ones lately as several different stores are selling them, including both Michael's and JoAnne's craft stores, Marshall's and HomeGoods, where I purchased this one.

They make wonderful boxes to keep all those little items and crafting supplies organized in.  And what's even better is that they aren't very expensive, especially if you can use a 40% off coupon or buy them when they are on sale, so one never has to fill guilty if one or two of them just happens to "fall" into your shopping cart.

Sort of like these two did last year...

Someday,  I may just have a while "library" filled with these pretty storage boxes.

Until next time...

Wooden Tags Turned Pretty....

Hi Girls..

I hope you're not tired of seeing all of my craft projects I've been making, because I'm back once again to share a few more with you.

These are some pretty altered wooden tags I made which started out as just plain wood shaped tags. They come in a set of five and are intended to be used to create a mini album, but I thought it would be more fun this time to make individual little pieces of art with them.

I used lots of pale and shabby colors on all of these.  My most favorite kind to use..

I'll do a little bit of bragging once again as I must say, these turned out pretty good and I just love the look of them.

That may seem kind of funny coming from me, the girl who just a year or two ago was so afraid of jumping on the crafting bandwagon, but once I got over my initial hesitation as to what I could create and how those creations would turn out, I have to say, I even surprised myself.

For those of you out there who may be feeling a bit of that same fear and/or hesitation, please don't let that stop you from trying.  There are so many things you can make that don't necessarily take a lot of extraordinary talent.

Some pretty papers, pretty embellishments, a bit of paint or glue and a good eye for detail is all you need.  Just let your imagination run wild.

Enjoy the weekend !!!

Spring Is In The Air...

Spring is in the air and the feeling of Spring has worked its way into my craft projects too.

One of which is yet another wall hanging I made.  For this one, I used more cheerful, spring like colors..

I used lots of layering on this one to give it lots of interest.

And of course, we can't forget the smaller details can we??

I just love all the cute scrapbooking embellishments that you can buy.  Many of them come packaged with multiple pieces like the little cut out shoe above.  Such fun things to add to your craft projects.

Well, that's all for today.  Next time I'll show you some smaller, tag shaped piece I made.

See you soon..

I've Been A Busy Girl......

Well hey there girls...

I've returned once again to share with you a few of my latest crafty creations.  I've been spending lots of time in my craft room lately making lots of pretty things.

One of them being this pretty wall hanging..

It turned out just the way I had hoped.

Here are a few close up shots  for you to see better detail..

And of course, I used another beautiful image that I found on the Internet and printed out on my printer.  These images are so fun to use in my projects..

And of course, I just had to finish it off with some pretty cream colored lace trim.

I'll be back soon to share another one that has more of a spring them to it.

Stay tuned....
