Latest Crafty Project.......

Hi Girls..

I'm here today to share my lastest craft project with you.

I've been trying really, really hard to use up some of my leftover scraps of scrapbook paper before I cut into a new piece, so I did just that for this project.

I dug into the drawer where I keep all of my larger scraps of paper to dig out some coordinating pieces that would give me the look I was hoping for.

And this is the end result....

It turned out quite nicely and keeps with my favorite vintage/shabby chic look that I love so much.

For this project, I used a thin 8 x 10 canvas board that I purchased at JoAnne's when they were on sale for 50% off last week (these boards came in a pack of 3) so this collage is larger than the one's I usually make.

I sometimes have to laugh at myself when I think about how much scrapbook paper I buy when I don't even do any real scrapbooking with photos. I'm just addicted to pretty papers that I can use for making tags, mini-albums, journals and collages like these.  I even tried my hand at card making several years ago, but I never really found my niche with that.  I enjoy creating these collages so much more.

Well, that's all for today.  Enjoy what's left of your weekend.

See you again soon..

Altered Match Box....

Hi Girls..

Well, I mentioned in my last post that I was going to try my first attempt at creating an altered match box, and today, you get to see the final results.

Not to brag or anything, but I must say, I think I did a very good job on this considering it was the first one I've ever made and I am very pleased with how it turned out.

I started by first buying some inexpensive match boxes at Walmart.  These were only $0.89 and measure approximately 2 5/8 x 4 6/8.

I made myself use the "good stuff" for this little project and I chose to use this gorgeous new rose patterned scrapbook paper from one of new Authentique paper lines.

And here is my completed match box...

I added a pretty paper rose, a button, a flat back pearl and some crocheted and lace trims in one of the corners..

And some lace trims on the sides..

I also added some small bead trim along the top edges..

And for the front of the drawer, I added a leftover bit of scrapbook paper with text and a decorate pink button...

Even the inside was finished by modge podging some more leftover scrapbook paper pieces..

What a fun little project this was.  I will definately be making more of these.

As always, thanks so much for stopping by for a visit.

See you again soon!!!

More Creating...

Hi Girls...

I know you may be tired of seeing the wall hangings I create, but I'm back with another one to share with you.

This one I made going with my favorite shabby/vintage look, using more pale muted colors and vintage looking florals and distressing the edges a bit with some distressed inks.

And I added one of the small flash cards I had purchased at Junk Bonanza last fall, this one fittingly with the word "tattered" which I think suits it perfectly.

Now for a little teaser.  I finally jumped on the altered match box bandwagon and I altered one of these into something pretty..

I'll show you the end result in a few days so stay tuned..

See you soon..

More Of My Antique Shop Finds....

Hi Girls,

I'm back to share more of my antique shop finds with you today.

I hit the mother lode of crochet and lace trims at a smaller antique shop were one of the dealers specializes in sewing related items and had her booth stocked full with all sorts of beautiful trims.  Most of them priced ridicuously low (no complaints from me on that..).

The trims were all neatly wrapped around peices of cardboard.  All but one of the bunches of trims below were $3.00 or less.    The only one that cost more was the cream crochet trim on the bottom right.  And that one was only $3.95.

And let me tell you.  There is a lot of trim on these cardboard pieces.  There is no way you could buy this amount of trim in the craft or fabric stores for such a low price.  I paid just under $20.oo for all of the trims you see above.

Here are some close up shots of some of the trims...

A girl can never have too much pretty trim to use when crafting so its always nice when I find some in the antique and thrift stores at such reasonable prices.

All in all, it was a very lucky day in the antique shops for me.

See you again soon!!!

New Finds.....

Hi Girls.

Happy Friday to all of you.

I took a few days off from work this week and spent yesterday visiting several antique and occasional sale shops and I found lots of fun goodies.

My best find of the day was this sweet mini dress form mannequin that was unbelievably priced at just $7.00.  I couldn't believe the price and the fact that no one else had snapped it up before me.  It is a perfect addition to my craft room.

And I've added to my collection of scrabble tile letters with these newest ones spelling out two of the things I love the most.

I also purchased the scrabble tile holder which was already painted a pretty pink color. Seeing the painted ones now has me wanting to paint the other ones that I already have to more suit my favorite color palate.

I was also keeping my eyes open as I wondered about the shops looking for something that I could use to hold my rolls of decorate craft/washi tapes and would also make for a decorative display piece.  I wanted something that wasn't too big or bulky and I lucked out and found this awesome vintage bulk thread spool with a wide cone shaped base that was loaded with some boring gray thread which I removed before taking my photos.

I plan on modge podging some pretty scrapbook paper onto the tube piece to pretty it up and then it will hold some of rolls of craft tape that have the larger center holes.

It works perfectly for what I was wanting and I was thrilled to find it.  And even more amazed that it was only $1.00.  I wish they had had more of them as I would have like to have had two or three of these, but this was the only one they had..

I found some other great stuff too, but I'll share those with you in my next post.

Have a great weekend !!

Pretty Pastels.....

Hey Girls...

While many of my fellow blogger's love the more neutral colors like creams and tans, I am and forever will be, a lover of pastels.  The soft and pretty muted colors are always the first to draw my eye.

And they always put a smile on my face.

And today, I hope they put a smile on yours.

Have a great day!!!
