Hi there girls...
I just had to pop in and say hello and show you my latest finds.
On Memorial Day, I decided to stop in at my local Goodwill store and lucky for me, they were having an awesome sale with 50% off everything in the store. Talk about good timing huh?? What's even better is that my combined purchase price after the 50% discount was less than $7.00.
I must be on a jewelry box kick lately, because both of the items I purchased were jewelry boxes. For some time now, I've had an idea stuck in my head of finding one that I could give a little shabby makeover to and I found the perfect one that I could alter to more suit my taste. I was so excited to get it done that I didn't take the time to take any "before" pictures so you'll just get to see the "after" shots.
The jewelry box was already the perfect shade of creamy distressed white so that didn't need to be changed. The only thing that I didn't like about it was the design on the lid, but that was of no concern because I already knew it was going to be covered up.
Using some of my pretty shabby floral scrapbook paper and some modge podge, I turned my little dresser style jewelry box into a cute little shabbified dresser.
With more of the pretty floral scrapbook paper now covering up the once ugly lid...
Here's a close-up shot of the drawers. I wasn't able to remove the little handles, so I was a bit limited on how I could add the floral paper to the drawers, so I just cut out small pieces to add to the center of each drawer.
Even the sides got a bit of a make-over too using some of my favorite printed word paper..
Don't you just love how cute it turned out?? I know I do.
The second jewelry box is one of those old vintage jewelry boxes that I seem to see all over blogland and which I have been hunting high and low for. I found it quite funny actually that it was just sitting on the bottom shelf at the Goodwill store, almost unnoticeable until I happened to glance down on my way to the register and I saw it sitting there. It's in great condition with just a few minor flaws, and I'm amazed that I had to pay so little for it.
Finding these new treasures sure was a great way to wrap up the holiday weekend.
Now, I wonder if I'll find any new treasures this weekend. I sure hope so..
Have a great one ladies.. :)

Love what you did with the dresser box, Kim! It looks so much like my real dresser only mine is tall! It too has an ugly top that I want to change some day. Your other box is similar to my moms only hers was red on the outside.
Isn't that something how close you can come to missing something at the thrift store? I generally aproach the ailes from different angles so I'll see it all! ♥
I love the jewelry boxes...
